Getting Started

Initial Server Configuration

After purchasing your server, you'll configure the basic settings before it's deployed.

Configuration Steps

Name Your Server

Give your server a name that's easy to remember:

  • Server Name - This appears in your dashboard and is visible to team members
  • Use something descriptive like "My Survival Server" or "Friends SMP"
  • You can change this later in server settings

Set a Password (Optional)

Set a password to protect your game server:

  • This is the in-game password players need to join
  • Leave blank if you want an open server
  • Not all games support server passwords

This is different from your Plex Host account password. This password only affects who can join your game server.

Invite Team Members (Optional)

Want others to help manage your server? Invite them now or later:

  • Enter their email addresses
  • Choose their permission level:
    • Read - View server status and files (no changes)
    • Write - Edit files, control server, manage backups
    • Admin - Full access including team management

You can always invite more team members later from the Team section of your server dashboard.

Review & Create

Review your configuration:

  • Server name
  • Password status (set/not set)
  • Invited team members

Click Create Server to start the deployment process.

Server Installation

After clicking Create Server, your server will be deployed automatically:

What Happens During Installation

  1. Provisioning - Server resources are allocated
  2. Installing - Game files are downloaded and configured
  3. Starting - Server starts for the first time
  4. Ready - Server is online and ready to play!

Installation Time

Installation typically takes 2-5 minutes depending on:

  • The game you selected
  • Current server load
  • Size of game files

While you wait, you can play a quick game of Snake! We've added a mini-game to make the wait more fun.

Monitoring Progress

The installation page shows:

  • Current installation stage
  • Progress percentage
  • Estimated time remaining
  • Real-time status updates

Do not close this page during installation. You'll be automatically redirected when your server is ready.

First Time in Your Dashboard

Once installation completes, you'll land on your server dashboard:

Overview Tab

  • Server Status - Shows Online/Offline status
  • Resource Usage - CPU, Memory, and Storage graphs
  • Connection Info - IP address and port for players to join

Quick Actions

  • Start/Stop/Restart - Control your server power
  • Console - Run commands directly
  • Files - Access the file manager

Sharing Connection Info

To let players join your server, share:

  1. Server Address - The IP address shown in your dashboard
  2. Port - The port number (if different from default)
  3. Password - If you set one during configuration

Example: play.plex.gg:25565
