Permission Levels

Every team member has a permission level that controls what they can see and do on your server. Choose the right level based on what each person needs to accomplish.

Permission Overview

LevelDescription
ReadView-only access to monitor the server
WriteCan make changes and control the server
AdminFull control including team management

Read Permission

Best for: Observers, monitors, players who just want to check status

What Read Users Can Do

  • ✓ View server overview and status
  • ✓ View resource usage (CPU, RAM, disk)
  • ✓ View connection information
  • ✓ View console output (read-only)
  • ✓ Browse files (read-only)
  • ✓ View backup list
  • ✓ View team members
  • ✓ View activity logs

What Read Users Cannot Do

  • ✗ Start, stop, or restart the server
  • ✗ Send console commands
  • ✗ Edit, upload, or delete files
  • ✗ Create, restore, or delete backups
  • ✗ Invite or manage team members
  • ✗ Change server settings

Read access is perfect for community members who want to monitor server status without the ability to make changes.

Write Permission

Best for: Moderators, helpers, staff who actively manage the server

What Write Users Can Do

Everything Read can do, plus:

  • ✓ Start, stop, restart the server
  • ✓ Send console commands
  • ✓ Edit, upload, and delete files
  • ✓ Create and restore backups
  • ✓ Delete backups (unlocked ones)
  • ✓ Compress and extract files

What Write Users Cannot Do

  • ✗ Invite or manage team members
  • ✗ Change server settings (name, slug)
  • ✗ Delete or suspend the server
  • ✗ Access billing information
  • ✗ Change other members' permissions

Write access gives full operational control without administrative powers. Good for trusted helpers.

Admin Permission

Best for: Co-owners, trusted partners with full management needs

What Admin Users Can Do

Everything Write can do, plus:

  • ✓ Invite new team members
  • ✓ Change team member permissions
  • ✓ Remove team members
  • ✓ Change server settings
  • ✓ Access all server features

What Admin Users Cannot Do

  • ✗ Access billing/subscription
  • ✗ Delete the server
  • ✗ Transfer ownership

Admin users have nearly complete control. Only grant this to people you fully trust.

Choosing the Right Level

Start Low, Increase Later

When unsure, start with a lower permission level:

  1. Invite with Read access
  2. See how they engage with the server
  3. Upgrade to Write if they need to make changes
  4. Promote to Admin only if necessary

Owner Permissions

The server owner (you, the creator) has:

  • All Admin permissions
  • Access to billing and subscription
  • Ability to delete the server
  • Cannot be removed from the team

Ownership cannot be transferred. If you need to transfer a server, contact support.

Security Considerations

Protecting Your Server

  • Grant minimum necessary permissions
  • Review team members regularly
  • Remove inactive members
  • Monitor activity logs for unusual actions

Red Flags

Consider removing someone if they:

  • Make unauthorized changes
  • Share access with others
  • Act maliciously
  • No longer need access
