Server Information
Manage your server's identity: the name shown in your dashboard and the URL used to access it.
Server Name
The server name is the friendly display name shown throughout the dashboard.
Changing the Name
- Navigate to Settings in your server dashboard
- Find the Server Name field
- Enter your new name
- Click Save
Name Guidelines
- Can include spaces and special characters
- Keep it recognizable and meaningful
- Examples: "My Survival Server", "Friends SMP", "Creative Building"
The server name is for your reference in the dashboard. It may or may not affect the in-game server name depending on your game type.
Server Slug
The slug is the URL-friendly identifier for your server. It appears in your dashboard URL.
Example: https://host.plex.gg/panel/my-server-slug
Changing the Slug
- Navigate to Settings
- Find the Server Slug field
- Enter your new slug
- Click Save
Slug Requirements
- Lowercase letters (a-z)
- Numbers (0-9)
- Hyphens (-) to separate words
- No spaces or special characters
- Must be unique across all servers
Good examples:
survival-serverfriends-smp-2024creative-world
Bad examples:
My Server(spaces not allowed)server@home(special characters not allowed)SERVER(uppercase not allowed)
Changing the slug changes your dashboard URL. Update any bookmarks or shared links.

Troubleshooting
Slug Already Taken
If your desired slug is unavailable:
- Try adding numbers:
my-server-2 - Add descriptive words:
my-survival-server - Use a different variation
Changes Not Showing
If changes don't appear:
- Click Save (make sure you saved)
- Refresh the page
- Clear browser cache if needed
Lost Access After Slug Change
If you can't access your server after changing the slug:
- Go to your dashboard home
- Find your server in the list
- Click on it to access with the new URL
- Update your bookmarks
